Cambrian House, High Street, Harlech lies in the shadow of Harlech Castle and overlooks the beautiful area of Snowdonia. Cambrian House has a long and established history as a shop dating back to around 1840, and is the home of The Harlech

Emporium, a traditional sweet shop that has often been described as ‘the best sweet shop in North Wales’! (Why not take a look at our History page?).

When Rosanna and Colin Wren had the opportunity to take ownership of Cambrian House they decided to open a real Traditional Sweet Shop selling top quality traditional English and Welsh confectionery and giving a good old fashioned, friendly service. They hoped that this would bring back the true excitement of going into an old fashioned sweet shop rather than going to a modern pick and mix store or newsagents. The Harlech Emporium evokes an era where the customer is respected, a place where young and old leave with a smile on their face and a big bag of happiness in their pocket.

The Harlech Emporium is a shop where both children and adults stand in silence, gazing up and wondering what sweets to choose from the many shelves, which are laden with over three hundred jars of traditional sweets – but don’t worry you will never be rushed into making a decision – and if you can’t find what you want, just ask and every attempt will be made to get it for you.

It is a place where people make a special journey to visit, bringing their friends and relatives to re-live their childhood memories, and mothers and fathers with sons and daughters in the armed forces or those with family living abroad can buy sweets to send to them so they can remember ‘home sweet home’.

Rosanna and Colin had so many contented customers during the holiday season who were always asking ‘do you have an on-line shop so we can buy your sweets when we get home?’, so after several years of trading they finally set up an internet shop based on real retail experience and customer satisfaction.
